Re: Parking at DTW. Detroit Airport Parking can be tricky without research: There is terminal parking, the Green lots and four off-site lots. Be sure to check their pages for coupons. Also, certain hotels offer free transportation to and from the airport if you spend the night prior to your flight.
With a coupon it's $10/day. Check out Airlines Parking or Quik Park. We use Airlines Parking and have used them many times and never had a problem. All parking is in a fenced in secure lot.
Groupon is offering a deal for parking at the Qwik Park Lot. You can park for three days for $18. According to the info on the site, it says if you are parking for more than three days, you can still use the coupon for the first three days, and then pay for the other days at regular price.
US Park, Airlines Parking and Quik Park are all $10/day with coupons on their website. AAA might get that down to $9. My corporate discount gets me $8, so if you work for a company with local offices see if you might qualify.
US Park on Middlebelt is $10 a day, with one free day, if you use their internet coupon. http://www.us-park.com/. Airlines Parking on Merriman is a little more expensive, but the drivers help a little more with baggage. US Park drivers might too - I have never asked, or a fellow passenger will usually be glad to help.
I fly out of DTW at 6:30 am on Saturday the 19th. I will return at 8:05pm on Wednesday the 23rd. I have the coupons for Qwik Park, US Park and Airlines Parking. Qwik Park and US Park are offering 1 day free, $9/day. Airlines Parking is $10/day with one day free. My main concern is what time the shuttles run.
