The Brookhaven MARTA station was just a few miles from our house and long-term parking there is cheap ($5 a day). For shorter trips it was sometimes cost effective to park at the airport, considering we needed two round-trip MARTA fares plus parking fees. In those cases we almost always parked in the West Economy lot since it was very convenient.
There's no way I would park in a super cheap place. I would worry about if my insurance company would cover me if there were damage or loss of car. I agree with the previous poster that parking is just one of the factors in taking a trip. You can park economy at the airport. You can park park'n'fly at the airport.
