With the CTA's Yellow Line shut down indefinitely due to a crash investigation, your only viable option is the Red Line (and during rush periods, the Purple Line Express). That would put you in Evanston, about an hour on the train each way each time you come into downtown Chicago.

Some garages make you pull the ticket when you enter, put the ticket in the machine when you leave and THEN you scan the bar code.

There are a number of garages in the South Loop (north of Roosevelt) that have $25/day parking rates on SpotHero and Parkwhiz, but without in/out privileges, so $100 for 4 nights is believable -- e.g., the garage at 2 East 8th St. OP, if that is the location of the garage that you've identified ...
The train ticket costs will be between $102 and $160 (depending on dates, seats available, and/or which train) for two people round trip. Free parking in Chicago two years ago? It must have been some other city.
