The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo (a.k.a. Cleveland Zoological Park) is a 183-acre (74 ha) zoo in Cleveland, Ohio. The Zoo is divided into several areas: Australian Adventure; African Savanna; Northern Wilderness Trek, The Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building, Waterfowl Lake, The RainForest, Asian Highlands, and the newly added Susie's Bear Hollow.
We decided to take a trip to the Cleveland Metroparks zoo. It was easy to get to and parking was free. We went through the rainforest exhibit and was very impressed. It felt as if you were walking through the rainforest and the plants were labeled with common and scientific names and if there is a medical use for the plant.
The zoo covers a very large area and was great for strolling around on a sunny Fall day. There were lots of plaques and informational boards about the animals and plants. I spent about 4 hours at the zoo and did not stop to eat so set aside a lot of time to see the whole zoo or go back over multiple days. The entrance fee was very reasonable at ...
The zoo has a particularly good elephant viewing area with lots of vantage points. Compared to other zoos, I felt like I was able to get closer to the animals than typical (in a safe manner). This really enhanced my enjoyment of the afternoon. The zoo covers a very large area and was great for strolling around on a sunny Fall day.
Originally a neighborhood park in the City of Cleveland, it became part of the Metroparks in 1993. It is immediately adjacent to fellow Metropark installation, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Brookside hosts numerous baseball and football fields and a wildlife area.

When we got to the ticket booth to show them our zoo membership, the ticket lady gave us a very hard time. She would only allow us to take 2 of our children in for free on the pass. We ended up having to pay for the rest. I told her I would show her the paperwork stating that we had a family pass and that we get into the Cleveland Zoo for free.
